Child proof locks

I find this quite useful in preventing children from opening closet doors or drawers. We have a closet full of cleaning materials and we would never want our children to get into it. We attached one of these safety locks from Safety 1st to the doors and it works great. It is adjustable so can fit any opening and you can stick these anywhere. It opens by pressing 2 buttons on one of the white clasp. There is no way the child can figure out how to open but easy enough for me to open with one hand. The other locks are too complicated to install (screwing into walls, installing the magnetic things, having problems with fitting, etc.) It is even worth me peeling the paint off the wall to finally remove these. I highly recommend getting some for any doors, drawers, etc. that you might think the child might be curious enough to open, and they will!

Bug repellant for babies

I was looking for a bug repellant that I felt would be safe for babies and I found California Baby’s Citronella Bug Repellant. It smells nice and does not contain DEET. I have used it on my baby and he hasn’t been bitten and is fine with it. No rashes, tears, and chemical smells. I highly recommend this product!

Balloon Time!

I saw these at my friend’s daughter’s birthday party and had to have it at my son’s party. These kits are fantastic.

The set includes a helium tank, balloons, strings, and faces! Eyes, ears, noses, mouths that you attach! It was a fun activity to have during a party and every kid wanted one to take home. There were plenty of left over face stickers, so they started putting them on their own funny faces.

No more paying top dollar for a a bunch of helium balloons that you might have trouble getting home, or a few expensive mylar balloons. Now you can blow these up yourself in the comfort of your own home and even have a decorating party.

Why didn’t they think of this earlier??? Check them out at their site!

No more tears, Ma!

I don’t know about you but my child hates getting water dumped on her head when washing her hair during the bath. For us parents, there’s really no other way to stop the water from getting into her eyes other than covering her eyes with a towel. We found the “shampoo rinse cup” by S.C. Products to be the best thing to solve this problem. It really prevent any water from seeping down her forehead and just goes down the back of her head. She will not fight washing her hair any more!

Hands free gate!!! Really!

To protect babies & toddlers from the dangers of stairs, kitchens, etc., we found that the Hands-Free Gate from One Step Ahead is the best thing out there. It is a sturdy gate (my child hangs off of it), it cannot be opened by the child (child is not heavy enough for the foot pedal), the gate swings open in either direction, no drilling into the wall since it’s pressure mounted, can be extended with extensions, and really needs no hands to open. We have purchased many of them and is recommending them to all our friends. This one is the only one with all the features we needed. The one drawback is that it can only fit openings 29″ to 34″ wide. However, 1 extension can change the opening from 34″ to 39″ and 2 extensions can be used for openings from 39″ to 44″ wide. Great buy!

BPA FREE? ARRGHHH

I do hope they’ll fix this BPA problem soon cause feeding a child is expensive enough without worrying that she would also need a BPA-free bottle or cup to use. And these cups are not cheap! $25 for a Sigg water bottle or $20 for a Born Free Sippy cup after purchase, tax, and shipping. Arrghhhh!!

Sleep n’ Play n’ Go n’…

We had the Graco Pack n’ Play Portable Play Yard (and crib) and I have to say that everyone needs one or something like it. The whole playpen collapses and fits into a case that is about 3 ft long x less than 1 ft wide. You can take it with you when traveling and the baby will always have his own bed to sleep and play in. It comes with removable items such as the full size bassinet, fold away changer, canopy with dangling toys, music box, vibrating mattress, etc.

After they grow out of just sleeping in it, they can play in it for hours. You can do your own thing knowing they are safely playing within an enclosed area. All 4 sides are made of a soft mesh material with a mattress on the bottom. Saved our sanity for a while!
